As we walked together in silence, I could hear your footsteps echo against the store front windows. The streets were damp from the melting snow. I noticed a yellow light flashing quietly in a puddle. The reflection was bold and bright but soon dissipated as you shoveled through the water with your shoe. In the cool night air the sounds of the passing cars loomed like ghosts. The taste of the cigar we shared still lingered in my mouth but the cold had already robbed me of its aroma. My body was numb.I could barely feel the wind blowing against my face.
